On 6 March 2026, the Executive Council of Saint Helena convened to address pressing issues, notably the economic repercussions stemming from the recent airport closure in February 2026. This decision responds to concerns about the potential introduction of Foot and Mouth Disease to Saint Helena. The Customs (Export and Import Control) Regulations, 1988, will be amended accordingly, with the prohibition effective from 7 March 2026.
