Samoa
The United Nations Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) is set to review Samoa's compliance with the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities during its session from March 9 to 26, 2026. This review will assess Samoa's implementation of the Convention and the Committee's previous recommendations.
Samoa is among the 193 States Parties to the Convention, which mandates regular reviews by the CRPD. These reviews are conducted by 18 independent international experts who evaluate how each country is upholding the rights of persons with disabilities.
The CRPD has received Samoa's country report and other submissions from non-governmental organizations. Public dialogues with Samoa's state delegation are scheduled as follows:
These sessions will be held at the TEMPUS conference facility at the Palais des Nations in Geneva and will be livecast on UN Web TV.
This review provides an opportunity for Samoa to demonstrate its commitment to the rights of persons with disabilities and to address any areas where improvements are needed. The outcomes may lead to recommendations for policy changes or initiatives to enhance the inclusion and well-being of individuals with disabilities in Samoa.
Stakeholders, including government officials, advocacy groups, and citizens, are encouraged to follow the proceedings to stay informed about the country's progress and areas requiring attention.
