The Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court (ECSC) inaugurated its 2026 Law Year on January 12, 2026, with a ceremonial opening in St. Kitts and Nevis. The event commenced with a church service at Wesley Methodist Church in Basseterre, followed by a procession to the S. W. Tapley Seaton Court Annex. Acting Chief Justice Margaret Price-Findlay delivered the feature address from Dominica, emphasizing the judiciary's commitment to independence and public trust. She highlighted ongoing efforts to modernize the delivery of justice, including enhanced judicial training in family law and plans to introduce family courts in certain jurisdictions. The ECSC serves as the superior court of record for six independent OECS states and three British Overseas Territories, underscoring its pivotal role in upholding the rule of law and protecting fundamental rights across the region.
