HRW Urges Accountability for Defecting RSF Commanders

Human Rights Watch (HRW) has called on the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) to ensure that Rapid Support Forces (RSF) commanders who have defected to the Sudanese army are held accountable for their involvement in serious international crimes and human rights violations. HRW emphasized that those responsible for such crimes should not evade justice by switching sides. The organization urged Sudanese authorities to investigate, prosecute, and punish those responsible for atrocity crimes, regardless of their current affiliations. HRW also appealed to international actors to support efforts to expand the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court (ICC) to all of Sudan and to oppose measures granting impunity for serious crimes.
