On March 1, 2026, the Government of Gibraltar announced the acquisition of three authoritative legal opinions confirming that the UK-EU treaty concerning Gibraltar makes no concessions of legal sovereignty to Spain or any other entity.

The Government stated that these opinions corroborate its analysis, as well as that of the Attorney General and the UK Government. Chief Minister Fabian Picardo is expected to reference these opinions during the upcoming parliamentary debate on the treaty's ratification.
