The Shire of Christmas Island has received a planning application for the development of a telecommunications facility at Proposed Lot 595, located at the corner of Phosphate Hill Road and Irvine Hill Road. Public comments are invited until February 25, 2026.
The proposed ICT Network Facility aims to enhance telecommunications infrastructure on Christmas Island. The planning application, numbered PA01-2026, is currently under assessment by the Shire.
Residents and stakeholders are encouraged to review the proposal and submit their comments. Details and plans of the proposal are available for public viewing at the Shire Offices, George Fam Centre, 2 Murray Road, Christmas Island.
Submissions can be made via email to shire.ceo@shire.gov.cx or via post to PO Box 863, Christmas Island 6798. The deadline for submissions is 4 pm on Thursday, February 25, 2026.
All submissions received will be considered as part of the overall decision-making process. The Shire will assess the feedback and make a determination on the planning application accordingly.
