UN Security Council Extends Libya Sanctions and Panel of Experts Mandate

The United Nations Security Council has renewed the authorization of measures related to the illicit export of petroleum from Libya and extended the mandate of the Panel of Experts assisting the 1970 Libya Sanctions Committee.

Sanctions Renewal

The Council extended the authorization of measures contained in resolution 2146 (2014) until August 1, 2027. These measures allow member states to inspect vessels on the high seas suspected of violating the UN arms embargo on Libya.

Panel of Experts Mandate

The mandate of the Panel of Experts, tasked with monitoring the implementation of sanctions on Libya, has been extended until August 15, 2027. The Panel is expected to submit its final report by March 15, 2026.
