On March 10, 2026, the High Council of Justice (HCJ) of Ukraine announced its decision to submit motions to the President for the appointment of 13 judges to appellate courts and 3 judges to local courts. This move is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the judiciary and ensure the effective administration of justice across the country.
The HCJ's decision includes the following appointments:
These appointments are crucial for addressing the backlog of cases and enhancing the efficiency of the judicial system.
In addition to the appointments, the HCJ addressed disciplinary matters. The Third Disciplinary Chamber decided to hold Judge Yurii Drach of the Koroliovskyi District Court of Zhytomyr disciplinarily liable, applying a sanction in the form of a submission for dismissal from office. Consequently, Judge Drach was temporarily suspended from administering justice pending a final decision on his dismissal.
These developments reflect Ukraine's commitment to judicial reform and the promotion of integrity within the judiciary. By appointing qualified judges and addressing disciplinary issues, the HCJ aims to bolster public confidence in the legal system and ensure the fair and timely delivery of justice.
Further information regarding the appointments and disciplinary actions will be provided as the processes progress.
