President Nicușor Dan has signed decrees promulgating laws concerning the fuel crisis and extending the reduced VAT rate of 9% for certain housing purchases until September 30, 2026. This extension aims to protect Romanians' incomes amid rising fuel prices and challenges posed by a cyberattack on the National Agency for Cadastre and Real Estate Advertising. The reduced VAT applies to homes with a usable area of up to 120 square meters and a value of up to 600,000 lei, provided the buyer has not previously purchased a home with reduced VAT since January 1, 2023.
