TNG Seeks Internal Documents in Appeal Against $1.4 Billion Vuda Project

Next Generation Holdings (Fiji) Pte Limited (TNG) has appealed the Department of Environment's decision to reject its proposal for a $1.4 billion waste-to-energy plant at Vuda Point. During a recent hearing before the Environment Tribunal, TNG's counsel, Feizal Haniff, requested internal documents from the Department to support their case.

Department's Position on Document Disclosure

The Department of Environment's counsel, Pete Bauleka, maintained that the requested documents are internal and will not be disclosed. He asked Haniff to provide a letter explaining the relevance of these documents to the appeal.

Magistrate Charles Ratakele, presiding over the tribunal, set the following deadlines:

• Haniff to submit the explanatory letter by September 7.
• The Department to respond by September 17.
• If the Department's response is negative, Haniff has until September 24 to file an application for the documents.

The matter has been adjourned to September 24, pending these submissions.
