Mozambique's Justice Minister, Mateus Saze, has announced plans for a National Justice Congress in the first half of 2026, aiming to foster inclusive national dialogue for constitutional and electoral reforms. This initiative seeks to gather diverse opinions to rewrite the Constitution and update electoral legislation. The Congress will involve various stakeholders, including the Ministry of Justice, the Supreme Court, the Administrative Tribunal, the Constitutional Council, and the Attorney General's Office. The dialogue is based on a document signed in March by President Daniel Chapo and nine political parties, which the Assembly of the Republic transformed into law. However, the main opposition figure, Venancio Mondlane, and his party, Anamola, have not been included in the organizing committee, raising concerns about the inclusivity of the process. The Justice Congress is expected to bring together the entire justice system, including judges, magistrates, lawyers, and other relevant stakeholders, to contribute to the pacification and development of the country.
