Man Remanded Over Human Skull Linked to Kush Production

Augustine Joe Dauda has been remanded at the Male Correctional Centre by Justice Isata Sellu Tucker after prosecutors tendered a human skull as evidence in an ongoing criminal case. Dauda faces charges related to the unlawful possession and use of a human skull in the production of synthetic cannabis, known locally as 'kush'.

Case Background

Dauda was arrested on December 5, 2025, at the Kent Police Checkpoint in the Western Area. Law enforcement officers allegedly discovered him in possession of a human skull believed to be connected to the manufacture of kush. Authorities allege that the skull had been exhumed from a grave in Bureh Village without authorization or supervision.

Legal Proceedings

During court proceedings, Detective Police Constable Julius Abu Kamara identified the skull, which was admitted into evidence as Exhibit A. Forensic pathologist Dr. Simeon Owiz Koroma presented findings from a forensic examination, concluding that the skull belonged to a female aged between 35 and 45 years and displayed signs of possible ritualistic manipulation.

Public Concern

The case has intensified concerns over the links between illegal drug production, ritual practices, and the desecration of graves in Sierra Leone. The matter has been adjourned to June 25, 2026, for further hearing.
