The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Malawi's Parliament has initiated a public inquiry into the controversial acquisition of Amaryllis Hotel by the Public Service Pension Trust Fund (PSPTF). The inquiry commenced on March 10, 2026, with officials from FDH Bank appearing before PAC to elucidate the bank's role in facilitating the hotel purchase. Subsequent sessions are scheduled with Continental Asset Management Limited, EMJ Advisory, the Malawi Law Society, the Anti-Corruption Bureau, the Reserve Bank of Malawi, and the PSPTF Board of Trustees. The Attorney General is expected to present the government's legal stance on March 16, 2026. This inquiry aims to assess the legality and transparency of the transaction, addressing public concerns over potential misconduct and ensuring accountability in the management of pension funds.
