Judge Duncan Announces Stricter Land Documentation Measures

On February 10, 2026, Judge Victoria Worlobah Duncan, Resident Judge of the 13th Judicial Circuit Court of Margibi County, announced stricter documentation requirements for land transactions in the county. The announcement was made during the opening of the February Term of Court in Kakata.

Judge Duncan emphasized the importance of protecting property rights and resolving land disputes through lawful means. She outlined key legal principles, including the inviolability of private ownership subject to due process and equal protection for customary land rights.

The new measures require all grantees to present updated Letters of Administration and Court Decrees of Sale for administrative deeds, as well as carbon copies of grantors' deeds for warranty deeds. Additionally, all deeds submitted for probate must include a carbon copy of the grantor's tax clearance. These documents will be verified by the Liberia Land Authority before probate.

Judge Duncan's announcement aims to enhance transparency and accountability in land transactions, thereby reducing disputes and promoting peace and stability in Margibi County.
