Guinea-Bissau Police Dismantle Illegal Migration Network

On March 25, 2026, Guinea-Bissau's Ministry of the Interior announced the dismantling of a network supporting illegal migration. The operation, led by the Rapid Intervention Police, Migration and Border Services agents, and members of the National Guard Brigade, resulted in the detention of 22 individuals, primarily from neighboring countries. Among the detainees were 17 citizens from Guinea-Conakry, four from Mali, and one from Guinea-Bissau. Notably, some of the individuals from Guinea-Conakry were children accompanied by their mothers, raising concerns about the use of children as shields during these journeys. The operation was initiated following an anonymous tip from a Guinean citizen, highlighting the community's role in combating illegal migration.
