Eight Charged After Police Operation in Castries

A joint police operation conducted on May 28, 2026, in the Castries communities of Wilton’s Yard, Belair, and Dierre Fort has resulted in the arrest and charging of eight individuals. The operation led to the seizure of suspected cannabis and the apprehension of a man wanted in connection with an armed robbery.

Details of the Operation

The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force reported that the operation was carried out by officers from the Gangs, Narcotics and Firearms Unit, with support from the Criminal Investigations Department, Central Intelligence Unit, and Tactical Response Unit.

During the operation, search warrants executed at residences in Wilton’s Yard and Dierre Fort resulted in the seizure of quantities of suspected cannabis and cannabis plants. The individuals arrested include:

  • Ishon Joseph, 21, from Wilton’s Yard.
  • Naheem Samuel, 21, from Dierre Fort.
  • Thecla Joseph, 45, from Dierre Fort.
  • Marcus Joseph, 46, from Dierre Fort.
  • Leon James, 21, also known as “Tikko Bolom,” from Dierre Fort.
  • Ryan Louis, 36, also known as “Spartacus,” from Dierre Fort.
  • A 17-year-old male from Dierre Fort.
  • Kerius Polius, 31, also known as “Shortcrop,” from Belair.

Charges and Court Proceedings

On May 29, 2026, Ishon Joseph, Samuel, Thecla Joseph, Marcus Joseph, James, Louis, and the juvenile were charged with cultivation of cannabis, possession of a controlled drug, and possession of a controlled drug with intent to supply. Samuel, Thecla Joseph, Marcus Joseph, James, Louis, and the juvenile appeared before the First District Court and were each granted bail of $1,500 on their own recognizance.

Joseph appeared before the First District Court on June 1, 2026, pleaded guilty to the charges, and was fined $4,200 and placed on probation for one year. The court ordered him to pay the fine within six months or face six months’ imprisonment.

Meanwhile, Polius was formally charged on June 2, 2026, with robbery and possession of ammunition without a valid license. He appeared before the First District Court and was granted bail of $5,000 on the robbery charge and $10,000 on the ammunition charge.
