The Supreme Court of Liberia commenced its March 2026 term on March 9, 2026, at the Temple of Justice in Monrovia. The opening ceremony was attended by Chief Justice Sie-A-Nyene Gyapay Yuoh, Associate Justices, members of the National Legislature, judges, magistrates, and other distinguished guests.
In her opening remarks, Chief Justice Yuoh emphasized the judiciary's commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring justice for all Liberians. She highlighted the importance of judicial independence and the need for the courts to operate without external influence.
The Chief Justice also addressed the backlog of cases and outlined measures to expedite judicial processes, including the implementation of electronic filing systems and the appointment of additional judges to handle the increased caseload.
Furthermore, Chief Justice Yuoh called for enhanced collaboration between the judiciary, the executive, and the legislature to strengthen Liberia's legal framework and promote good governance.
