On November 4, 2023, Cape Verde's Attorney General, JoséLuís Landim, stated that the country needs to recruit 26 more prosecutors and 60 additional court officials by 2027 to achieve a 92% reduction in procedural backlogs by 2030.
During the opening of the judicial year, Landim highlighted that pending cases had decreased from 102,152 in the 2015/16 judicial year to 57,792 in 2022/2023, representing a reduction of approximately 43.4%. However, he emphasized the necessity of further recruitment to meet the strategic goal of significantly reducing backlogs.
