Togo
Togolese authorities have extradited Paul-Henri Sandaogo Damiba, Burkina Faso's former junta leader, back to his home country following a request by the current military government. Damiba, who led Burkina Faso between January and September 2022 before being ousted and seeking refuge in Togo, is wanted on charges including criminal embezzlement, incitement to commit crimes, and other offenses. The extradition was approved by the LoméCourt of Appeal, based on reciprocal relations and assurances that he would not face the death penalty.
