A Moscow court has convicted 19 individuals for their involvement in the March 22, 2024, terrorist attack at the Crocus City Hall concert venue, which resulted in 149 deaths and over 600 injuries. The Islamic State group claimed responsibility for the assault, where four gunmen opened fire on concertgoers and set the building ablaze.
Of those convicted, 15 received life sentences, one was sentenced to 22.5 years, and three received nearly 20-year terms. Additionally, the convicted were ordered to pay fines ranging from approximately $6,300 to $34,000.
The trial was conducted behind closed doors in a military court due to security concerns. The individuals convicted were accused of assisting the attackers with logistics, including providing a vehicle and renting an apartment. Russian authorities have controversially alleged, without evidence, that Ukraine was involved in planning the attack, a claim that Kyiv has strongly denied.
The four attackers were arrested shortly after the incident, reportedly showing signs of severe physical abuse when presented in court.
