Niue Justice Building Construction Tender Closes Today

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT) has announced the closing of the tender for the construction of the Niue Justice Building on July 31, 2026. This project aims to enhance Niue's judicial infrastructure by providing a dedicated facility for the High Court and related legal services.

The tender, which opened on April 29, 2026, sought main contractors for Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) services. The new justice building is expected to address the current lack of dedicated court facilities, as proceedings have been held in temporary venues such as conference rooms. This development is anticipated to strengthen the rule of law and improve access to justice for Niue's residents.

Interested parties were required to submit their proposals by today's deadline. The selection process will focus on contractors' experience in similar projects, their understanding of Niue's unique context, and their ability to deliver the project within the stipulated timeframe and budget.

The construction of the justice building aligns with Niue's broader efforts to modernize its infrastructure and support the effective functioning of its legal system. The project is part of the country's commitment to upholding judicial independence and ensuring that legal proceedings are conducted in appropriate and secure environments.

Further updates on the tender evaluation and subsequent construction phases will be provided by MFAT and the Government of Niue in due course.
