Luanda Hosts First Angola-Brazil Judicial Dialogue

On June 23, 2026, Luanda commenced the inaugural Angola-Brazil Judicial Dialogue, a high-level bilateral platform uniting judicial magistrates and legal experts from both nations. The event, running until June 26, aims to facilitate the exchange of experiences between the two countries' justice systems, with a particular focus on the training and development of magistrates.

In his opening remarks, Norberto SodréJoão, the esteemed President of the Supreme Court and the Superior Council of the Judiciary (CSMJ), emphasized the contemporary challenges facing the justice sector. He highlighted issues such as the expansion of digital means, transnational crime, the protection of fundamental rights, child and family welfare, and labor matters as central to the work and training of justice operators.

Benedito Gonçalves, Director-General of the National School for the Training and Improvement of Magistrates, noted that this training cycle represents the culmination of an institutional dialogue initiated in January of this year. He explained that the initiative aims to equip Angolan magistrates and other professionals, fostering the exchange of experiences, strengthening institutions, and adopting modern methodologies for judicial training.

This dialogue underscores the commitment of both Angola and Brazil to enhancing their judicial systems through mutual cooperation and shared learning, addressing pressing legal issues in an increasingly interconnected world.
