Joint enforcement operation detects offences in Bandar Seri Begawan

On July 11, 2026, a joint enforcement operation in Bandar Seri Begawan uncovered various offences. Led by the Brunei-Muara Police District, the operation involved over 200 personnel from multiple government agencies, including the Immigration and National Registration Department (INRD), the Labour Department, and the Department of Electrical Services.

The operation resulted in the detention of one foreign male and one foreign female by the INRD for investigation under the Immigration Act. The Labour Department detected three offences under Section 81, relating to the failure to provide suitable accommodation and maintain environmental cleanliness for workers, and two offences under Section 86 for failing to declare workers’ accommodation in the Foreign Worker Licence. The Department of Electrical Services identified two offences under the Electricity Act (Chapter 71).

The Human Trafficking Investigation Unit interviewed 19 individuals, with no human trafficking offences detected. This operation reflects the commitment of Brunei's authorities to ensuring compliance with the law and safeguarding public safety.
