Federal Constitutional Court Schedules Hearing on Petitions Against KP Chief Minister
The Federal Constitutional Court (FCC) has scheduled hearings for petitions filed against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Sohail Afridi. The petitions, including one challenging the formation of the 'Imran Khan Release Force' and another contesting the KP government's decision to withdraw cases related to the May 9 riots, will be heard on July 29.
A three-member bench of the FCC, presided over by Chief Justice Aminuddin Khan, will hear the petitions. The court has issued notices to the KP government and respective respondents. The court has already issued a stay order in the matter of withdrawal of May 9 cases.
It may be mentioned that Radio Pakistan had resorted to court against the government decision for withdrawing the Peshawar attack case. Radio Pakistan has also filed a petition seeking the transfer of the case from KP.
