Dominica
The Electoral Office of Dominica has announced the resumption of voter registration starting March 9, 2026, following a temporary suspension due to the implementation of new electoral legislation and systems.
The suspension was initiated to comply with the Registration of Electors Act 2025, which introduced mandatory voter confirmation and required the use of a new computerized system for both confirmation and registration processes. Chief Elections Officer Anthea Joseph explained that during the transition, the office was unable to process new registrations using the old forms and lacked a modern system to issue new voter numbers as per the new law.
With the new voter registration system now operational, trained registering officers will oversee the process to ensure accuracy and security. Registration will be conducted at existing confirmation centers across the island, with assistant registering officers processing applications and registering officers appointed in each constituency to oversee operations. Training for registration staff is scheduled ahead of the rollout.
The Electoral Office emphasizes its commitment to upholding the law, strengthening the integrity of the electoral system, and providing a modern, reliable, and accessible registration process. The public is thanked for its patience during the reform period.
