Cyprus leaders agree to intensify reunification talks

On August 27, 2026, the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, and Turkish Cypriot leader Tufan Erhman agreed to intensify their meetings, committing to weekly discussions aimed at advancing reunification efforts. The leaders also announced plans to establish a Steering Committee for the Civil Society Consultative Body, with its members to be revealed on August 27. This initiative underscores a collaborative approach, involving civil society in the peace process.
