From March 26 to 28, 2026, Andorra will host the seventh global meeting of the Mountain Partnership, an international gathering that will bring together approximately 150 participants from 45 different countries. The primary objective is to discuss the role of mountain territories and the consequences they face due to climate change.
One of the anticipated results is the approval of the "Andorra Declaration," a document aimed at recognizing the vulnerability of these territories and the need to prioritize them in environmental and territorial protection policies.
Minister of Environment, Guillem Casal, highlighted the coincidence with the Snow and Mountain Tourism Congress, reflecting the importance of developing sustainable economic activities to protect these environments. During the presentation, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Imma Tor, and Ambassador for Cross-Border Cooperation, Noelia Souque, emphasized Andorra's involvement in multilateral initiatives and announced the participation of representatives from countries such as Armenia, Switzerland, Nepal, and Mongolia.
The conference is expected to influence future legislation and policies concerning environmental protection, sustainable tourism, and climate change mitigation in mountain regions. The "Andorra Declaration" may serve as a foundational document guiding international and national legal frameworks aimed at preserving mountain ecosystems.
