The European Commission has announced the initiation of a rigorous monthly oversight of Moldova's reform progress, set to commence in March 2026. This measure aims to ensure that Moldova's state institutions meet the benchmarks necessary for European Union integration.
The monitoring process will be centralized across three key pillars:
President Maia Sandu emphasized that "no compromises" will be made regarding performance, particularly in complex sectors such as agriculture and environmental protection. Institutions failing to meet integration benchmarks will face immediate leadership changes.
To tackle existing capacity deficits, the government plans to replace underperforming management. The ultimate goal is to fully prepare the country for European Union membership by 2030, moving beyond legislative harmonization to concrete implementation.
President Sandu highlighted that European integration is the most viable path to ensuring national safety against external interference. Accelerating the EU path is viewed not just as an economic goal, but as a fundamental strategy for national resilience.
