Cape Verde Implements Justice Information System in Praia and São Vicente

On January 23, 2025, Cape Verde's Attorney General ordered the implementation of the Justice Information System (SIJ) in the Public Prosecutor’s Office services of the districts of Praia and São Vicente. The system, which became mandatory on January 1, experienced a 16-day delay in its rollout.

The SIJ aims to modernize judicial processes by enabling electronic processing of cases, thereby improving efficiency and reducing procedural delays. Key directives include:

• Immediate cessation of case registration in the old system within the specified districts.
• Mandatory processing of new complaints and urgent cases in the SIJ from January 17 onward.
• Continuation of cases registered before the transition date in their original format.

The Attorney General emphasized the importance of compliance with the new guidelines to ensure the system's full functionality.
