Cape Verde Government Seeks Annulment of Arbitration Court Decision

On August 23, 2025, the Cape Verdean government announced that it had submitted a request to the Supreme Court of Justice to annul a ruling issued by the Arbitration Tribunal in the case involving the concessionaire CV Interilhas. The government alleges that the decision is marred by illegalities and irregularities warranting judicial annulment.

The disputed ruling had ordered the state to pay substantial compensation to CV Interilhas for alleged breaches of contract related to the concession of inter-island maritime transport services. The government maintains that the amount claimed was never paid and emphasizes its commitment to defending the public interest and ensuring transparency in public maritime transportation services.
