President Boko Consults Traditional Leaders on Constitutional Court Proposal

President Duma Boko has initiated consultations with traditional leaders (Magosi) regarding the proposed establishment of a Constitutional Court in Botswana. This follows the passage of the Constitutional Amendment Bill of 2025 by Parliament. The proposed court aims to enhance Botswana's judicial framework by providing a dedicated body to handle constitutional matters, interpret the Constitution, and safeguard citizens' rights. President Boko emphasized the importance of incorporating input from traditional leaders, legal experts, and community representatives to ensure the court's structure respects both customary practices and modern legal standards. The establishment of the Constitutional Court is seen as a significant step toward strengthening Botswana's democratic institutions and upholding the rule of law.
